Microsoft Confirms Windows 11 Update Is Crashing Games and Causing PC Reboots
Microsoft has confirmed that the recent KB5121003 update for Windows 11 is triggering EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION errors, causing game crashes and unexpected system reboots across 24H2 and 25H2 builds while engineers prepare a hotfix.
Microsoft officially acknowledged that the August Patch Tuesday update (KB5121003) for Windows 11 builds 26200.9168 and 26100.9168 is triggering stability issues and unexpected game crashes.
Affected gaming systems report frequent EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION errors and involuntary system reboots during high-load titles on Windows 11 versions 24H2 and 25H2.
Microsoft engineering teams are actively investigating reports across graphics subsystem calls and are preparing a Known Issue Rollback (KIR) hotfix.
